Welcome to my 2011 bitches, yes that's right, all your years are mine. Well some of them at least, okay fine, can I just have everyone's January? Yes! All of your Januarys are mine. Which means nothing exactly, well other than giving me a temporary feeling of power and dominance. Ahhh back to reality. Speaking of which has been quite busy of late, the holidays came and went, parties happened, money was spent, and I ate, ate, ate zillions of cookies in the process. All around my break from work was nice, I think I clocked in over 200 hours sitting on the couch watching the Housewives of Atlanta...yes I love Kim...and her wig. They're contagious! No really, I think I'm developing a rash...on my eyes.
Though much of my time was spent reclining around the house, I did get done a few things that were on my list. I managed to meet with the Archivist at the One National Gay & Lesbian Archive, I went in ready to make my case for interning there, however he instead was already assigning me a project. The small team of 3 working there were very nice, they were excited about having someone intern and help out. The project they assigned to me was to arrange and describe a collection of materials by this specific artist (his name escapes me now) and to create a finding aid for their catalog. Michael, the archivist, walked me through the collection and showed me the materials I'd be working with...oh lord, it's quite big. Boxes and boxes of old documents, notebooks, and paintings. I was a little intimidated by the amount of stuff and the scope of the project, however I'm up to the challenge, and I'm sure I'll figure it out as I go along. I just find it exciting to be working with such culturally relevant materials, I mean the materials I'll be working on might not be that significant to me, but they are to this archive. It will also be interesting to see more of the collections, from what I've seen so far they have quite interesting, peculiar, and unique items that I'd love to learn more about. I've submitted all my paperwork for my school, hopefully they'll accept my proposal and let me get started once the semester begins later this month. Wish me luck!
Over the break, Matt and I spent quite a bit of time getting back to our crafting roots, knitting and crocheting up a storm. I made a sexy little pooch/pouch/papoose for my amazon Kindle. It's hot right? Well semi-hot is more like it, I just wanted to give it a little cushion for the impending million times I'll be dropping it in the future. I used a yarn that was called "zebra" and did a double crochet pattern. T'was fun! Have I mentioned yet how much I'm enjoying my new kindle?! I just got it a few weeks ago, with my mom desperately searching for something to get me for Xmas, I suggested this since I hope to use it to read my lecture notes for school.

While I am a fan of physical books, reading on the kindle ain't too shabby. The web browser isn't too bad either, with a bit of patience and some persistence, checking email and reading blogs is pretty neeto on this device. Especially now that I read about using it in conjunction with Google Reader and clicking on the *F* key for full-screen viewing, so awesome. So don't Lindsay Lohan think she can get back on the junk and act like I ain't reading about it on mah blogz, bitch I know you back on the stuff, I READ IT ON MAH KINDLEZ.
Side Bar, have I mentioned how much rain we've been getting in Long Beach? This winter rain is officially out of control, someone call Rachel Zoe and have her "shut it down".

Last year we did have that one week of insane rain as well, with heavy flooding, but this season, our street is filling up with water after just an hour of heavy rain. Yes I do enjoy the rain, but having to jump into a street full of water to get to my car kinda sucks. But in related in news: I love the rain!
