20ten

Could this be my last post of the year? Pretty much, yeah. I mean, I can't be bothered to update my blog while on my 2 week vacation from work! Yep, it's been fantastic so far, very relaxing and I'm still on my non-stop marathon of ingesting copious amounts of food. But seriously, I need to stop eating fast. I keep missing my stop while on the express train to Fat Town, I just can't get off this jovial and glutinous vehicle. Well at the very least I've gotten back to playing tennis on a regular schedule, and I finally went back to the gym to wake my body up from it's slumber. I'm very excited about that and I'm certainly not making any resolutions to not be so fat in 2011, rather, I'm just deciding to not 20 chocolate bars, 5 bags of chips, and 2 sundaes all in one sitting....over the course of one week, sure, but not in one day! I'm so glad to be done with the fall semester, school was a real pain in my ass this past session. This was o...

for XXXmas...

if I had to make a list of things I want for XXXmas, I'd definitely want my own Deatheater, I'd settle for Nagini, or at the very least a House-elf.

Bright & New

Two more days til my week and a half off from the library, I'm already foaming at the mouth. These past few weeks have just flown by, I've been trying to take it slow, soaking in the cool rainy weather, but every time I blink another hour passes. Though I don't mind, everything has been great lately. With Matt moving in a few months ago, school finishing this past week, and my body on the up, 2011 should be a fantastic year. I'm hoping to get back into shape in the coming months, having had gallbladder surgery two months ago and having to be patient with the slow recovery, my muscles have turned to flab. Not only that, I've tried to dive right back into tennis and have seemed to have strained a tendon in my shoulder in the process. I sure need to get back to the gym and get myself stronger. I do not enjoy paying $30 a month for a gym membership that I never use. #thoughts This weekend was fun, Matt and I met up with Kara at the Geffen Contemporary (MoCA) in L...

Plans...

The countdown to the holiday madness has begun, XXXmas is only a week or so away, and the new year is looming. I'm looking forward to the break from work, the library is closed down over the holiday for almost two weeks...can I just enjoy that thought for a few more seconds?....ahh yeah, cannot wait. I'm not too sure what I'll be doing over the break, I have a few books I'd like to read. One is total fluff, Star Trek: Voyager anyone? Okay fine, yes it's geeked out crap, but I'm almost done with the first book in the series, it's actually pretty entertaining...even though the writing style is somewhat low. I also want to also start reading Mapping Gay L.A. , which talks about the history of politics and place in regards to the gay liberation movement in Los Angeles. It's kind of self imposed homework, not only for my own intellectual progression, but also because I want to intern at the One Institute this coming spring. Since it happens to archiv...

Dark dancer...

It's the next morning and I'm still thinking about Black Swan , Darren Aronofsky's interpretation of Swan Lake. I went with Matt and Shelley last night to Huntington Beach to see the film, I went in with few reservations, I at the very least knew I would get to see some stunning visuals. I've seen all of Aronofsky's previous films, with the exception of Requium For a Dream , I've enjoyed his work. I sometimes shy away from the over stylized techniques that border on crappy MTV music video, but he seems to have eased up on that. Odette in this film was played by Natalie Portman, her character, Nina, is the fragile and inexperienced White Swan. As the movie progressed she slowly, and sometimes suddenly changes into the Black Swan. I enjoyed all the staging that showed the cracks developing in her identity, the mirrored images, the shadow cast upon her face at the bar, splitting her in two. Portman did a good job at conveying that broken little bird, I loved...

On the web again...

So here we are with a new blog before me, it's been awhile since I've written a blog focusing solely on my personal life. I had for the longest time been writing over at LJ, I started that blog back in 2003 during my last year as an undergraduate at UCSD. It was an interesting outlet for myself at the time, keeping instep with my studies in Visual Arts, the blog was just a dumping ground for ideas, rants, and musings. I will definitely be continuing with such entries here, but who knows what this might turn into. Much of my life has changed since I posted my first entry on LJ, clearly I'm older, somewhat wiser, but also my perceptions are different. It's not that I feel completely different that the person I was 7 years ago, but I've definitely changed. I've also wanted to start blogging again out of the need to focus some of my ideas. Lately with being back in school and trying to keep up with my social life and interests, I feel so jumbled when it comes ...
